Students at 无码专区 Celebrate Strong Set of GCSE Results

24th August 2023

After much hard work studying and preparing, students across our secondary schools are celebrating receiving their GCSE results today as national grading returns to pre-pandemic levels.

In a year where outcomes, nationally, have returned to 2019 levels, and following the disruption seen during the pandemic, the outstanding support provided by each of our schools has enabled students to achieve the outcomes needed to move onto the destination of their choice.

Students are now looking forward to progressing onto their chosen further education institutions, with many remaining at one of the trust鈥檚 sixth forms to study A-levels and vocational qualifications.

Dawn Haywood, Chief Executive at 无码专区, remarked, "I am delighted to see students from across the 无码专区 family achieve such strong results in their GCSEs today. I couldn鈥檛 be prouder of our students and our staff who have worked so hard for these successes."

Here are some of the standout achievements from across our schools:

Cheslyn Hay Academy:

Student Bethan Cooke (second from left above) achieved eight grade 9s in Biology, Chemistry, English Literature, Geography, Maths, Physics and Further Maths, alongside a grade 8 in French and a grade 7 in English Language.

Bethan said: 鈥淚'm so happy with my results. I didn't expect so many grade 9s but I'm glad my hard work and the support of my teachers got me there. I'm excited to start my A levels at Aspire Sixth now. I'm doing Maths, Biology and Chemistry, and hopefully Physics as well!鈥

Tom Macdonald, Headteacher at Cheslyn Hay Academy, said: 鈥淚 am so proud of our students and their performance - they have had some fantastic achievements and through their incredibly hard work have emerged stronger following COVID. We are particularly excited to see so many of them staying with us to join our Aspire Sixth form.鈥

Great Wyrley Academy:

Student Poppy White successfully achieved nine GCSEs including a 9 in French and 8s in Science and Maths.

Poppy commented: 鈥淚 am very pleased to achieve the results I need to go to Sixth Form to study Biology, Maths and French. Thank you to all the teachers who have supported me at Great Wyrley鈥.

Kelly Moore, Headteacher at Great Wyrley Academy, said: 鈥This particular year group has faced some of the toughest challenges in their school career and we are delighted with the resilience and determination they have shown throughout. As these students embark on their chosen pathways, we wish them the very best of luck for the future.鈥

Kingswinford Academy:

Student Neena Iddrisu achieved seven grade 9s and two grade 8s.

Neena said: 鈥淚 just can鈥檛 believe that this is happening. Nothing feels better than when all my hard work pays off. I鈥檝e had so much support from my teachers, my friends and my family.  I can鈥檛 wait to see what the future brings.鈥

Ian Moreton, Headteacher at Kingswinford Academy, said: 鈥淚鈥檓 thrilled with the results Kingswinford Academy students have achieved this year. It can鈥檛 be underestimated what these brilliant young people have been through during their years at secondary school. Today, they have their reward for their maturity, hard work and resilience.  All things considered, it has been an exceptional year for Kingswinford Academy. I am extremely proud of all the students and our brilliant staff who have worked tirelessly. I want to offer my congratulations to them all.鈥
